Grayson's First Birthday Party

This weekend, we celebrated Grayson's First Birthday with family and close friends. We got the party started early on Friday by going to Brunswick Zone with Le'Dean, Henry, and Ella. While my sister is not the biggest fan of bowling, I think I can say we all had fun watching the kiddos attempt to bowl.

Saturday was the true party, but before the festivities began, we took Grayson to get a BIG BOY haircut. I can't believe how much older he looks now :( He was a pro at the salon, and he barely even flinched.

Brandon's mom and sister, my sister and her children (Henry and Ella), The Scalia Family, and The Oberg Family were in attendance once the party began at 4:00. While sometimes I get stressed out when hosting guests, yesterday proved peaceful for me. In the end, I gave up trying to get the house perfectly clean (something that is close to impossible when Brandon is never home...only having after bed time to clean limits the amount of cleaning one can do), and I just focused on the fact that those we love were here to celebrate my son. Laughing and playing children mess up the house anyway, right? We had tacos, (thanks to Andrew, I think I will always make tacos for big gatherings:) ) chips and salsa/guacamole, fruit, and a cupcake cake decorated in a jungle theme. We ordered a Diego cake, but then changed it up a bit with our own decorations.

For once, I just let Grayson get dirty and have at it with his cake. It was pretty amusing to watch, especially since there wasn't ANY cake that actually made it into his mouth. After a quick clean-up in the bath, we opened presents and wound down with our guests. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did!

Oh, and I hope you enjoyed my 100th post!

An Ear Infection...AGAIN :(

Once again, our poor little Grayson is plagued by an ear infection in both ears. The one ear is so bad, that the doctor told us yesterday had we waited a day longer to bring him in, his ear drum would have likely burst. Our poor little guy is clearly in a lot of pain, so we are hoping the antibiotics, chiropractor visit, and ibuprofen start making a difference soon.

As a result of having five ear infections in three months, we were referred on to see an ENT doctor on April 1st. I am hoping to find some answers because it is hard to see him so uncomfortable!

We don't take him in for his year check-up until the middle of April due to our regular doctor being on maternity leave, but his weight yesterday was 19.5 lbs. It is fun having such a little man cruising around our house.

Recent Griffin Quotes

Everyday, on the way home from day care, I always ask Griffin what his favorite part of the day was. Because I don't get to spend the day with him, this daily ritual becomes a way for me to stay connected with his life at Gail's house. Well, the other day when I asked him to share his favorite part of the day, he wouldn't answer. When I asked him why he wasn't sharing, he responded, "Um, because I think you should just concentrate on the road!" (really? is he thirty?)

Today, on the way to day care, Griffin preceded to share a story from last week at Gail's. The following is almost exactly word for word... "Yesterday, at Gail's (everything that happens in the past is yesterday, by the way), there was a neighborhood cat in the yard. It killed some birds. Here's the plan. You protect Grayson by putting him back in your belly, and I will protect the birds."

Sorry honey, no babies are going back into Mommy's belly!

Grayson is lucky...

to have Griffin for a big brother.

Upon hearing that Grayson was sick with the stomach flu and an ear infection, Griffin replied, "Mom, I think I should give Grayson a hug."
