Getting Healthy and Visiting the Pumpkin Farm

As many of you know, we have been struggling to get Grayson to gain weight. Since the middle of July, he hasn't been interested in eating much, so he was slowly dropping percentiles on the growth chart. After going two and a half weeks without gaining any weight, it was finally cause for some further investigation. Prior to this time, it never seemed like Grayson was in any pain during or after feedings, so it was hard to pinpoint the reason behind his refusal to eat. After careful observation (our child is VERY laid back and doesn't get upset much, so this was difficult), it started to seem as though he was uncomfortable after eating, and he started fussing every time he was put on his back.

After consulting a GI specialist, Grayson was put on a medicine to treat possible Ulcers and Acid reflux. Within one day, our baby boy was back to eating normally and sleeping like a champ. Although we have to wait to find out an official diagnosis, it is nice to not have to constantly worry about whether or not he is getting enough nutrients. This also means we can start feeding him solid foods more consistently, which will add some fun to the Dunigan Meals:) So, we are praying this positive change continues, and we are happy our littlest man is no longer in pain!

This week also brought about some fun new activities. We discovered a local pumpkin farm that is perfect in size for our little family. It was super inexpensive, and Griffin had a BLAST! He got to jump in a bouncy castle, ride a pony, paint a pumpkin, "drive" a tractor, and take a hay ride. We may try and go back again when we are experiencing more fall-like weather!

Tonight we are off to have dinner with friends from Wisconsin! A fun and relaxing way to end our SUPER stressful week!

Happy Half-Birthday, Grayson!

Today, our youngest little man is halfway to his first birthday! Seriously, where does the time go? I can remember so vividly the day he was born; how is it that he is already 6 months old? Time really does fly, and Grayson is growing up right before our very eyes.

We will find out his current weight on Monday, but so far, Grayson is continually ranking lower and lower on the charts as far as weight goes. He is still weighs less than what his big brother did at 4 months! The fun thing about his slow weight gain is that he gets to wear his cute outfits longer! Plus, he is able to wear more of Griffin's clothes than we originally expected. My only hope is that he will be 20 pounds by the time he is a year old, so we can put him in the forward facing car seat:)

Anyway...on a more positive note, Grayson can officially sit up unassisted. He will still tip over when he reaches to0 far for a toy or gets too excited and throws his head back, but he is able to remain seated for at least 10 minutes at a time. This has brought about new experiences with toys, and he makes some pretty cute facial expressions with his new outlook on life.

Pretending it's still summer...

With the super hot weather this weekend, the boys and I decided we were going to pretend it was still summer. While daddy was enjoying U2 in Chicago, we chose to forget I was back teaching and just love each other up. We also headed to the POOL for the very last time this season. Grayson is finally old enough to use the "floatie thing" that Griffin first used, and once he figured it out, he had a ball. Griffin is finally back to his fearless self when it comes to the pool, and he was impressing the crowd by jumping, splashing, and dunking himself. All in all, we had a wonderful weekend. Now I am off to try and get some much needed sleep!

Quick Updates!

As usual, the boys are keeping us busy:) After a few days of fevers for both, everyone is healthy. I am pleased to report that I never got sick, which is a very rare occurrence!

Both boys are still adjusting to life at Gail's again, but hopefully by the end of this week all will be normal. Grayson is having the hardest time getting used to being around so many kids, and he isn't napping as well as he should. As a result, he gets a little cranky and then sleeps too much at home. I don't mind him sleeping at home except that we don't get to see him. So, here's to hoping his schedule gets back to normal soon:)

Grayson cut his second tooth yesterday! It doesn't seem to bother him as much as the first, so that is always helpful. We also started introducing a few foods. He still can't eat more than a little bit every now and then because of his slow weight gain, but we are having fun seeing how he reacts. I actually started making my own baby food, and so far he likes everything I have made: peas, sweet potatoes, and peaches.

Griffin and I hit up the park the other day as a last hurrah before school started. He is now big enough to do all the park activities, and it was fun to see him navigate everything. He also continues to make us laugh with his funny quotes. Here are a few from the last few days...

"I'll let you know when the clock says it's time to put my pants on."

"Mom, you are driving like a crazy bus driver."

"Where's Federer? That's not Roger!"

"I totally just hurt my leg."
