Recent Griffin-isms

"I don't particularly like that."

"Is that even legal?"

"Can we eat at Jimmy John's?" (The kid is OBSESSED! And, he eats a WHOLE sub!)

"How do you hug a porcupine?"

"Okay, Dad. Why does Roger (as in Roger Federer...we are on a first name basis you know) only do tennis?"

"It's really hard when there is only one grown up" and "Dad doesn't know me like you do."
This conversation revolved around a breakdown Griffin had on Thursday. I was at conferences, and he was very upset that I wasn't home to put him to bed. When we talked on the phone that night, he was bawling. The statements from above were part of a conversation we had after this meltdown. Needless to say, some Father-Son time is scheduled for the future:)

Let the Easter Festivities Begin

Another Round at the Children's Museum

Griffin's New Routine

This past Monday, Griffin gave us a scare with his asthma. While he was diagnosed with asthma a long time ago (age 1), he has never had too many problems. His controller medicine has always kept his wheezing at bay, and his rescue inhaler has stopped anything from being too serious. Unfortunately, Monday changed all that. After taking him to Urgent Care and being ushered right back without waiting, it was determined that his pulse oxygen level was only at 92. After a nebulizer treatment and a dose of steroids at the doctor's office, he improved significantly, and we were sent home with a nebulizer to keep at our house. For the past week, we have hooked Griffin up with this machine every 4-6 hours. While his symptoms have improved, at his check-up yesterday, it was determined that he is still wheezing, and his lungs are still fairly constricted. He was placed on another round of steroids, and we now have a new controller medicine. Here's to hoping we don't have another scary Monday!

Feeling Blessed

Today was an all around good day. It was one of those days where the smile on your face rarely leaves.

The day started out with some extra cuddles with Grayson. Normally he is a mover and a shaker when he gets up, but today he wanted to snuggle. Not a bad way to start off the day.

When I arrived at school for a committee meeting, I came to find out that a different meeting for next week is going to be canceled. Yay for eliminating extra work!

My first hour class is a dream. I love them. Really. They make me laugh EVERY. DAY. Today was no different.

The day kept getting better because I had PREP today. I only get PREP every other day, so PREP days are happy days for me. It was during PREP that I received an email saying that I was chosen as a finalist for a Let's Dish! Teacher of the Year award. (http://www.letsdish.com/mnteachers/) See. I told you my day rocked. Hopefully people vote because I would love free food! Hey, that means you should vote! But really, it was an honor to be chosen as a finalist, and it definitely put some pep in my step.

My great day doesn't end there...I got to play with my kids. OUTSIDE. with chalk. AND bubbles. WITHOUT jackets. LOVE SPRING.

After the kiddos went to bed, I clocked in 3 miles. Day 3 of training complete. Man I love crossing off those days!

And I saved the best for last. Griffin asked if I could teach him how to read today. "You know, like the words, Mom, not just the letters and sounds in the words." So, I started busting out some common sight words today. My little man is going to Kindergarten.
