Inspiration

This picture is what officially inspired me to run THIS year's Twin Cities marathon. Doing so had been on my bucket list for a couple of years, but it was still a distant goal. After spending the morning cheering on runners at the Minneapolis Marathon, I started to really think about making this year my year to do it. So the next day, I took the leap. I am registered. I am committed. I am at the end of Week 2 of my training, and I am so looking forward to getting a picture snapped of ME at that 26 mile marker :)

One of the major reasons why I chose the Twin Cities Marathon is the fact that I get to run with Team World Vision again. This organization is the whole reason I fell in love with running in the first place (see here for my first half marathon recap), so it is only fitting to help give back to the organization that changed MY life. Running is unique that way. I am a highly competitive person, but in running, the competition is against yourself. (Okay, let's be real. If I am running with my brother, I am trying to beat more than just myself!) I think I fell in love with running because it was a sport that I could always try to beat myself. I am always trying to improve something...whether it be a new time, a new distance, more hills, negative splits, getting healthier, etc., there is always a chance to push myself mentally and physically. But here is the thing... I choose to do that. I am lucky enough to live a life that allows me to hit the pavement for my own enjoyment. And now I get to help give back to kids and families that aren't that lucky. World Vision helps people all over the world get access to clean water. Team World Vision gives me the opportunity to do what I love AND help other people in the process.

The needs are great, but we can make a difference. I am committed to raising $50 per mile of the race. If you are willing and able, click here to visit my fundraising page.
